Kashmir History

Kashmir’s history is rich and complex, marked by its strategic location and cultural significance. Ancient records show that Kashmir was a prominent center of Hindu culture and learning, with notable rulers like King Ashoka promoting Buddhism. The region’s history saw various dynasties, including the Mauryas and Guptas, shaping its cultural and political landscape. During the medieval period, Kashmir came under Muslim rule, which introduced Persian and Islamic influences, further enriching its cultural tapestry.

In the 19th century, Kashmir was annexed by the Dogra dynasty under the Treaty of Amritsar, leading to significant administrative and social changes.
